After falling behind on our mortgage payment for six months, my wife and I decided that we had to make a change. I called my brother to talk to him about my options and he generously offered to let us move into his basement for a few years until we can get back on our feet. I was so humbled by his offer. I told him that we would pay rent to him, but he would only let us pay him a couple hundred dollars per month. I reminded him that with four more people in his house, his utility bills were sure to increase. He told me that the energy bill should not be an issue because he has fixed-rate energy that he found out about at www.shopelectricityratestexas.com. We decided that we would get his basement set up and move in at the end of the month. Luckily he only lives a few miles from where we currently live, so our kids will be able to go to the same schools. There are a lot of foreclosed homes in our area right now and it is a shame that we are leaving a house to sit vacant. However, this will give us a chance to save some money and hopefully buy another house in a few years.
